Pedestrian struck by vehicle in Palatka airlifted

Crash blocks part of U.S. 17

PALATKA, Fla. – A pedestrian was airlifted to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle Friday evening in Palatka.

The accident happened around 6 p.m. on U.S. 17 near Caca Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The right southbound lane was blocked due to the crash.

Putnam County Fire Rescue said the pedestrian was transported by helicopter to UF Health in Gainesville.

The extent of the pedestrian's injuries are unknown.

No further details were immediately released.
