Last week, Nassau County detectives identified human remains found in a wooded area of Patrick, S.C., on Dec. 24 as those of Kirk Westfall.

The 51-year-old disappeared after attending his son's high school football game on Oct. 8. Nassau County deputies said there was a bloody scene in Westfall's home in Yulee, but there was no sign of the man, and his car was missing.

Turnage was spotted in South Carolina driving Westfall's car days before Turnage's arrest in Vineland, N.J.

The remains were discovered by a hunter in an area that had been visited by Turnage, deputies said. Investigators said a recent autopsy that was conducted on the remains revealed that the manner of death was a homicide.
