PALATKA, Fla. – A 7-year-old girl reported missing around 9 a.m. Tuesday in Putnam County has been found, deputies said.
The Palatka Police Department and Putnam County Sheriff's Office were looking for Shontell Elizabeth Nixon, who lives in the 800 block of Oak Street in Palatka.

Within an hour, police said a city worker spotted the girl. Officers said she had gone about eight blocks away from home with a family friend to watch people fishing in the river.
"Thank you to the community and media for their quick response and assistance in locating Shontell," the police department posted in its Facebook page.
The search included K-9 teams, firefighters and Putnam County School Board Police officers.
