JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – An 18-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder in a drug-related shooting on La Ventura Drive earlier this month, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office announced Tuesday.

Police said Kairon Alexander Ritchey is charged with shooting and killing 23-year-old William Tucker in what police said was an apparent planned robbery. Assistant Chief Chris Butler said Tucker and Ritchey were co-workers at a nearby fast-food restaurant.

Butler said Ritchey often bought marijuana from Tucker, and that he arranged to meet Tucker at an abandoned home in the 7400 block of La Ventura Drive near 103rd Street to buy marijuana on May 18.

About 10:20 p.m. May 18, police were called to that area because of reports that shots had been fired. They found Tucker shot to death in the backyard of the abandoned home.

According to the arrest report, Tucker's pockets were empty when he was found, and Ritchey was seen on surveillance video hopping over a fence at the home and and dropping money.

When questioned by police, Ritchey admitted to meeting Tucker to buy marijuana, Butler said, but denied the shooting. Butler said Ritchey was later caught trying to a sell a gun that had been fired, and he was arrested Sunday and charged with murder.
