Police ask for help identifying Hess robber

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police are asking for the community's assistance in identifying a man who attempted to rob a Westside convenience early Sunday morning.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said a man entered the Hess Express at 7100 Wilson Boulevard at 5:20 a.m. mumbling and saying something about not having any food and being hungry.

One of the employees gave the suspect a muffin and even offered to warm it for him, then suspect became upset that she did not have the "right bag" to put the muffin in.

The suspect approached the counter and demanded money from the cash register and threatened to use a gun. The employee did not give the suspect any money. She walked over and placed her hand on his should and said, "You don't want to do this," as she walked him to the door. The employee stated that as the suspect left the store, she locked the door behind him and called police.

The clerk told police the suspect did not take anything from the store.
