Now deputies are asking for help finding a potential witness who was in a red Jeep parked in the parking lot during the robbery. They did not know the year or model of the Jeep.

Deputies said about 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, two men wearing masks entered the restaurant at 1114 State Road 20 brandishing handguns and demanding money from the cashier.

Deputies said one of the men stayed at the front counter with the cashier and the other went into the kitchen where two other employees were working. It's unclear why, but the robber in the kitchen fired several shots and at least one hit a 55-year-old employee in the side.

After the shots were fired, the men took the till from the cash register, ran from the business and were last seen driving west on State Road 20 in a white car.

The men are described as Hispanic, one thin and one heavy set.

The man who was shot was taken to Shands Gainesville and was in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries, deputies said.

Investigators are urging anyone with information about the robbery or who could identify the driver of the red Jeep to call the Putnam County Sheriff's Office at 386-329-0801 or Northeast Florida Crime Stoppers at 888-277-TIPS. Anyone providing information that leads to an arrest and conviction may be eligible for a reward of up to $5,000.
