JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jacksonville police announced on Wednesday that they've charged a 20-year-old man in connection with a triple homicide.
Terry Smith is charged with three counts of murder in the June 2007 shooting deaths of 24-year-old Desmond Robinson, 21-year-old Kennethia Keenan and 21-year-old Berthum Gibson inside a home on Ahmad Drive in Northwest Jacksonville.
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, Smith went to the home to rob the victims. Investigators said Smith entered the home where the victims and one other person were and tried to rob them.
They said one person escaped and was able to call for help. That person was able to lead police to Smith.
According to a police report, after the shooting occurred, Smith told some of his friends that he did it. Investigators said evidence from inside the home also links Smith to the crime.
Smith has been in jail since February of 2008 when he was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon after a traffic stop.
