Police find missing 66-year-old man with Alzheimer's

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The 66-year-old man reported missing a day earlier was found Saturday by a motel maintenance worker, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.  

Waverly Northington Jr., who is diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, was reported missing at 1:38 p.m. Friday.

Sometime after midnight Friday, police said, Northington left a home on Halls Hammock Court. 

On Saturday, he was found under a stairwell of a motel in the area of Interstate 295 and Blanding Boulevard, police said. 

Northington was assessed by rescue crews, but appeared to be OK, police said.
