SANFORD, Fla. -

George Zimmerman, who has been in hiding since he was found not guilty of murder in the death of Trayvon Martin, helped rescue someone who was trapped in an overturned SUV last week, Sanford police in Florida told ABC News on Monday.

Sanford Police Capt. Jim McAuliffe told ABC News that Zimmerman "pulled an individual from an Ford Explorer that had rolled over" Wednesday night at the intersection of  Interstate 4 and Florida Route 417.

Authorities said there were four occupants in the car, two parents and two children. Deputies said Zimmerman, with the help of another man, helped the family get out of the overturned vehicle.

No one was injured.

Deputies said Zimmerman didn't witness the crash and left after the first deputy arrived.

It was the first known sighting of Zimmerman since he left the courtroom following his acquittal on July 13 on murder charges for the death of Martin.
