Body found, family suspects it's missing man

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The family of a missing Northwest Jacksonville man believes it was his body that was found inside a Northwest Jacksonville home Wednesday morning.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office was called to a home off West 13th Street and Janette Street about 10 a.m. in reference to a suspicious foul odor. When police arrived, they found a man's body inside the house.

Officers said they do suspect foul play in the man's death.

It is currently unknown who the person is or how the person died. Family members who was at the scene told News4Jax they believe the body is that of Ronald Trotter, Jr., who has been missing since Memorial Day.

His wife, Karen Trotter, said JSO told her it's a possibility it could be Trotter's body.

"I received a call from a family member that we needed to get here because a crime tech was out here. People had suspicions, and we suspected anyway, but nothing was sketched in stone; nothing was definite," Trotter said.

Police are still investigating the death.

News4Jax will update this story as more information becomes available.
