Police investigate drive-by shooting on Westside

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office: 3 shots fired; 1 person hit by gunfire

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police are investigating a drive-by shooting Monday evening on Jacksonville's Westside.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office was called to a report of one person shot in the 1500 block of Windle Street just after 7:30 p.m.

Police said a person driving south on Grunthal Street fired shots from a vehicle at three men who were in the front yard of their home on State Street West.

After shooting at the three men, the shooter ran east on State Street West.

One of the three men was shot in the left buttocks and was taken to UF Health Jacksonville. Police said all three victims fled south through several yards, after the shooting.

The three victims were contacted by the patrol and gang unit officers.

The Violent Crimes Task Force is investigating the shooting. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
