Police: Speeding SUV carrying 3 teens kills woman in crash
Officers say 2 of 3 teens fled scene; 1 in custody
A woman was killed when a speeding SUV carrying three teenagers crashed into her car in a church parking lot, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
Two of the teens fled the scene, police said.
Officers were called to the crash in the 2800 block of Edgewood Avenue West about 3 p.m.
They said the teens' Dodge Durango was speeding on Edgewood, lost control and veered into the parking lot of a church, slamming into a car that was turning out of the lot.
The woman driving the car was killed.
Police said they found one of the teen passengers at the scene, and that teen was taken to UF Health Jacksonville with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said the driver and the second passenger fled on foot, but officers found the driver, who was taken into custody.
Investigators did not say if the SUV was stolen.
All lanes of Edgewood were closed while police investigated the crash.
