Details scarce in Northwest Jacksonville shooting

Sources: Two men shot during a shootout at gas station

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Two people were shot Tuesday evening during a shootout at a gas station in Northwest Jacksonville, sources said.

The shooting happened at a Shell gas station at the intersection of Kings Road and Canal Street just after 5 p.m.

Sources told News4Jax that the shootout was between two men. One man was shot multiple times in the lower half of his body, but is expected to survive. Another man was tracked to an apartment complex and was found with a gunshot wound. The two men were taken to UF Health, according to sources.

Witnesses in the area said that there was some sort of argument in the parking lot and someone wound up shooting.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is still investigating.

In the past year, there have been 14 assaults, one burglary and one carjacking in this area.
