GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A man was shot multiple times Friday morning outside the Tiger Bay apartments in Gainesville, and the suspected shooter was later caught by police, according to the Gainesville Police Department.

The victim, who is in his mid-20s, was found by police officers and emergency personnel lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso. He was alert and talking when he was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover, police said.

Multiple witnesses said they saw two men fleeing the scene in a van. They were able to get a partial tag and vehicle description, and Alachua County deputies found the van in Hawthorne later Friday.

"We are extremely thrilled to have such a quick identification of someone involved in this incident," GPD spokesman Ben Tobias said.

The driver of the getaway van has not been charged in the shooting. Police said it's unclear if he witnessed the shooting or knew that Littles had committed the crime.

Police later reported that they had the suspected shooter in custody and that they had recovered the gun involved in the shooting.
