Police: Man shot in leg on Philips Highway

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police are looking for a shooter after a man was shot in the leg Friday afternoon in the 2800 block of Philips Highway, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

The shooting happened about 12:40 p.m. and closed down Philips Highway for several hours.

Officers responded to the area after gunfire was reported and found the victim shot. He was taken to a hospital in stable condition.

Philips Highway was closed in both directions while officers, including K-9 teams, searched for the shooter. The road has since reopened.

Officers were still canvassing the area Friday afternoon looking for the shooter.

No description of the shooter was released.
