Boy pulled from Bartram Springs pool in serious condition

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police responded to the report of a near drowning of a 6-year-old boy Friday afternoon at the community pool of Bartram Springs, off Race Track Road, near the Duval-St. Johns County border.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, the boy was with his family just after 3 p.m. when they saw him under water, pulled him out.

Police said the boy was unresponsive when Jacksonville Fire and Rescue arrived. First responders performed and took the boy to Baptist South.

The child was then flown to Wolfson Children's Hospital, where he was in serious condition.

A homicide detective also went to Wolfson to conduct a follow-up investigation.
