Police search for burglary suspect caught on camera

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – As a 91-year-old woman was at church one Sunday morning, police said that a man broke into her home on Moose Road and made off with a television and a diamond ring.

Police said the robbery wasn't reported until last Sunday but took place a couple of weeks ago.

According to officials, there was a surveillance camera at the home and family members said that a heavy-set white or Hispanic man drove up to the house in a beige or gold color car with a black right front quarter panel.

Police said the man walked up and knocked on the front door of the home, and then started trying to open the front and back doors of the home.

When he found the doors locked, he started searching the back porch and garage area, where he found a spare key that he used to break into the home.

Police have uploaded the surveillance video from the home to YouTube to help in the search for the suspect and are asking anyone with information on the identity of the suspect to contact the Sheriff's Office at 904-630-0500, or email police at JSOCrimeTips@jaxsheriff.org.

People with information can also remain anonymous and be eligible for a possible reward of up to $3,000 by contacting Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS with information.
