Burglars steal $40K in phones

LAKE CITY, Fla. – The Lake City Police Department is searching for two people that burglarized the T-Mobile at 3529 NW Bascom Norris Drive sometime early Sunday morning.

Police were called to the store after the alarm company contacted them at approximately 6:21 a.m. When they arrived at 6:25 a.m., the burglars were gone.

Police said the burglars stole approximately $40,000 worth of phones, taking every phone in the store except for two.

The thieves were described as wearing dark pants, possibly blue shirts and both were wearing hats.

A T-Mobile keyholder said another T-Mobile store on Archer Road in Gainesville was burglarized in the same manner two days earlier.

Police are now encouraging any businesses selling electronic equipment to contact the Crime Prevention unit to receive useful information in protecting electronics and reducing the chance of burglaries to stores.
