Police seek armed robbery suspect

Suspect stole money, cartons of cigarettes from convenience store

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office needs the community's help in identifying an armed robbery suspect.

The man shown in surveillance photos robbed the Kangaroo convenience store on Beach Boulevard Sunday at 7:30 a.m., according to police.

Investigators said the suspect entered the business and asked for cigarettes. He then pulled out a gun and placed it on the counter and demanded money from registers, as well as cartons of cigarettes.

The clerk complied with the thief's demands and put the items in a bag.

Police describe the suspect as a black man, approximately 37 years old. He's about 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs about 195 pounds.

The man was last seen leaving the scene in what investigators said is either a green truck with a bed topper, or a green van.
