Police taking back unwanted prescription drugs

Lake City Police Department gives public a chance to prevent pill abuse

LAKE CITY, Fla. – The Lake City Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is urging the public to turn in any potentially dangerous, expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs.

On Saturday, April 27th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the public is being asked to bring medications in to the Lake City Police Department Public Safety building located at 225 N.W. Main Blvd.

The service is free to the public and anonymous. Often, medicines that are left in home cabinets are susceptible to misuse and abuse. The Lake City Police Department says the initiative to take back the drugs, addresses a vital public safety and public health issue.
