Police try to identify Eastside shooter

23-year-old robbed, shot Wednesday at apartment complex

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville police are trying to identify a man who robbed and shot a 23-year-old man Wednesday night at Franklin Arms Apartments on the Eastside.

The shooting happened in the parking lot of the complex on Franklin Street about 9:40 p.m.

Police said the robber struck the victim and took his wallet while in the lobby. Police said that when the victim tried to retrieve his wallet, a struggle ensued and spilled out into the parking lot. The robber shot the victim in the upper left thigh.

The victim was taken to UF Health Jacksonville with non-life-threatening injuries.

The robber is described as a black man, 26-42 years old, 5 feet 7 inches tall, and between 170 and 180 pounds.
