Putnam committee continues piling up cash

A political committee tied to Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam has raised more than $500,000 this month, as it continues to pile up cash ahead of what is expected to be a run for the governor's mansion.

The committee, known as Florida Grown, raised $538,170 from Feb. 1 to Feb. 16, according to a list of contributions on its website.

The committee had about $4.73 million in cash on hand as of Jan. 31, the latest figures reported to the state Division of Elections show.

Contributions in February included $205,000 from PACs linked to the business group Associated Industries of Florida and $50,000 from Disney Worldwide Services, according to the website.

Putnam, a Republican, is widely expected to run for governor in 2018, when he will be term-limited as agriculture commissioner.
