Leaking sewer water and roaches shut down two local restaurants

Restaurant Report Card

JACKSONVILLE, Fla – In this week's restaurant report card a popular hot dog stand is temporarily shut down because customers were standing in sewer water and another restaurant near the beach was closed overnight because of roaches.

Rocky's Dawg House sets up shop right outside of Home Depot on Southside Boulevard.  We've actually been there before because it's had perfect inspections in the past but this time a routine inspection led to a closure.

The inspector came to Rocky's Dawg House last week and found a high priority violation that needed addressing right away.  He wrote there was raw sewage on the ground of the establishment.  He wrote he  saw constant dripping waste water onto the ground from the waste water tank.  He even noted customers were standing in the water in front of the hot dog cart. The next day the inspector came back and there was still water dripping on the ground.  It wasn't until later that day that it was allowed to open back up after a third  inspection.

Kairos Food and Juice on Beach Boulevard  is back open after a closure because of roaches. Last month the inspector found roaches on the cooler hinge, more near the freezer and the most on boxes under the front counter.  They recently had a follow up inspection and the bugs were gone but they were still required to do a follow up inspection. The follow up inspection was done yesterday and they passed with zero high priority violations.
