Reward to find girl's attacker up to $8,000

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Ten days after an 8-year-old was brutally attacked in woods behind her Arlington apartment complex, an anonymous donor contributed $6,000 to Crime Stoppers to increase the reward to find the man who did it.

The girl was beaten and sexually assaulted. At last report, she remained hospitalized.

That brings the reward to $8,000 for a tip that leads to an arrest. People calling 866-845-TIPS can remain anonymous and still be eligible for the reward.

"Detectives continue to pursue leads in this case and hope that this increased reward can generate leads," said Melissia Bujeda, public information officer of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. "This reward increase highlights the community's participation in the Sheriff's Office effort to address violent crime and this despicable crime against an innocent victim."

On Monday, one week after the attack, MAD DADS volunteers knocked on doors in the area where the attack took place in hopes that someone would have information that would lead to the arrest of a suspect.

The 8-year-old's father joined the volunteers, determined to deliver a message to the man who attacked and sexually assaulted his little girl.

"Please speak out! Please say something. If you got a heart, if you got a mama, if you have a daughter. If you love anyone, if you have a heart, please say something. Come forward! Come forward and say something!" the father pleaded.
