River Run close to closing entries

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The upcoming River Run has experienced record pre-race registration this year and will cap entries for the 15K race at 20,000.

The cap is projected to be reached before registrations close Friday night, Race Director Doug Alred announced. Seeded starting positions have already been filled, Alred said.

Registration for The Florida Times-Union 5K for Charity, Adidas Junior River Run, and the Brooks Challenge Mile will remain open until Friday when the Expo closes at 8 p.m. Gate River Run is the largest 15K in the United States and is the USA 15K Championship for men and women.

7:00 a.m. - Sound officially goes up
7;00 a.m. until 7:45 - Trib plays music and makes instructional announcements
7:45 a.m. - Streaker Celebration - 35 Years and Running
8:00 a.m. - Trib makes more instructional announcements and recognizes sponsors
8:23 a.m. - Top 25 elite women start -Gator Bowl Boulevard
8:24 a.m. - Introduction of Mayor Brown
8:25 a.m. - Mayor Brown welcomes runners
8:26 a.m. - National Anthem - Whitney Houston version
8:30 a.m. - 15K start - Gator Bowl Blvd., 5K start - Duval Street
8:40 a.m. - 15K Walker start from E. Adams Street
9:43 a.m. - First runners expected at Finish Line on Duval Street next to Stadium
8:30 a.m. - Noon - Publix Post-Race Celebration - Jax Fairgrounds
