Roaches found in 2nd school cafeteria

Lunch, dinner Thursday prepared offsite

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – For the second time this week, a Duval County school cafeteria was closed and sanitized after a roach was found.

On Thursday, the serving line was closed at Sadie Tillis Elementary School and students were provided with an alternative lunch prepared off-site, according to Principal Marianne Lee.

"Until we ensure the food preparation area is thoroughly cleaned, food will continue to be prepared offsite," Lee said in a letter sent home to parents. "The safety and well-being of our students is paramount, and we appreciate your cooperation and support while we address this matter."

Dinner Thursday will also be prepared off-site, and the school said parents and guardians would be notified when cafeteria operations returned to normal.

On Monday, a single roach led the Duval County School District to shut down operations in the cafeteria of Crystal Springs Elementary School.
