RV fire damages neighboring trailer

Family seeks financial help

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A family living next to a trailer that caught fire in the Fleetwood RV Park off Phillips highway this month said they are in need of help.

Steve LaForm said his RV suffered damage during the fire.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office believed a woman claiming to have been sleeping in the neighboring RV set it on fire.

Once firefighters were able to get the fire under control, they found what looked to be six pots of methamphetamine.

Police arrested the man who owned the RV the next day.

LaForm said he didn’t notice the damage to his RV until daylight. His water heater was damaged, and he and his son can’t take hot showers, or wash their dishes with warm water.

LaForm said the smoke damage is also unbearable because he has COPD and breathing problems which is why he’s on oxygen. He said the seals around the windows melted, as well as the sewer and water hose and the fuel door.

LaForm told News4Jax that the home he and his son were living in prior to the RV was damaged from a fire and they lost nearly everything. They bought the RV as a last resort, and LaForm is afraid that if they can’t fix the RV, they will be out of luck.

LaForm started a GoFundMe page for anyone who would like to hep the family.
