FHP: Students on bus at time of crash, no injuries reported

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol is searching for a vehicle that hit a school bus on the Westside on Wednesday morning, then drove away.

At 6:40 a.m. a school bus was rear-ended by an unknown Jeep Wrangler, according to FHP. The vehicle then fled the scene after the crash.

Thirty-five students were on the bus at the time of the crash, but no injuries were reported according to FHP.

The crash happened in the northbound lanes of Blanding Boulevard at Longchamp Road. The crash did not block any lanes of traffic, according to FHP.

FHP is investigating the crash as a hit-and-run.

According to Duval County Public Schools, the bus was headed to Robert E. Lee High School Wednesday morning. Another bus was sent to transport the students to school.

Charges are pending against the driver of the Jeep Wrangler. The crash caused about $200 worth of damage to the school bus, according to an FHP report.
