School bus stopped to let student off hit by semitruck, police say

No injuries reported in crash

NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. – A Nassau County School District bus that had stopped to let a student off was hit by a semi-truck Tuesday near State Road 200 and Zweifel Road.

Officials said the bus was stopped on eastbound State Road 200 at 4:25 p.m. with the stop signs activated while a student got off the bus. A semitruck was traveling in the right lane and realized the bus was stopped. The 55-year-old man driving the semitruck hit the brakes and veered into the left lane to avoid the bus.

The right side of the truck hit the left rear stop sign of the bus, officials said.

There were four kids on the bus with the 58-year-old driver. One student had already gotten off the bus at the location before the crash.

There were no injuries in the crash, officials said.
