Scott highlights job growth in St. Augustine

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Gov. Rick Scott highlighted job growth Thursday at Carlisle Interconnect Technologies' St. Augustine facility.

The company has created almost 200 new jobs since 2011. Carlisle IT manufactures wire, cable, fiber optics and high performance grounding systems for the commercial aerospace industry. Nearly 600 Floridians are employed at their facility in St. Augustine.

"I am excited to visit Carlisle IT today and highlight their creation of almost 200 new jobs since 2011," Scott said. "Over the past four years, we have worked hard to create a low-tax, business-friendly environment so companies like Carlisle IT can grow in Florida. These new jobs are providing great opportunities for families in St. Augustine, and I look forward to seeing Carlisle IT's continued success."

Carlisle IT has been headquartered in St. Augustine since 1987, and has more than 6,000 employees at 20 locations worldwide. Carlisle IT also supports the St. Augustine community through specialized education programs and grants for local high schools and engineering and robotics organizations, such as St. Augustine Technical High School, the Embry Riddle Robotics Club, the Aerospace Academy at St. Augustine High School, and the Engineering Academy at Ponte Vedra.

As a result of their recent growth, Carlisle IT is currently building an addition to the company's corporate facility in St. Augustine that is expected to be finished by the end of the year.
