Sebastian Middle lockdown ends

St. Augustine police werer searching for robbery suspect

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Sebastian Middle School in St. Augustine was on lockdown Thursday, according to a spokesperson, while deputies searched for an robbery suspect in the area.

Sometime after 9 a.m., the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office put the school  located off of Lewis Speedway, north of State Road, on placed on a "soft lockdown" as a precaution.

According to a spokesperson for St. Johns County Schools, police were searching for an unarmed robbery suspect in the area.

A source told Channel 4, the suspect ran into the woods behind the school.

Students are were kept their classrooms until shortly before noon, when the lockdown was lifted.

An alert has been sent to the parents of students that attend Sebastian Middle.
