TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -

A Florida senator believes a bill to legalize medical marijuana in the state of Florida will pass this November's ballot.

For decades the state has turned away the use of pot as a form of medication.  Sen. Jeff Clemens says synthetic drugs can actually be more harmful to the body than marijuana.

Clemens along with two other lawmakers, Democratic Rep. Katie Edwards and Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz, spoke on behalf of pushing the use of pot as medicine.

They want an non-intoxicating oil to be extracted from the marijuana plant that patients can use.

Parents of children with intractable epilepsy have given testimony on the need of medical marijuana.  Colorado has seen success in using the oil as treatment.

Gaetz and Edwards are pushing for a bill for a specific measure in medical marijuana, which they believe could provide a framework to the battle of medical marijuana.
