JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Jacksonville man has pleaded guilty to possessing several firearms after having been convicted of felony child sex offenses in the state of Kansas, U.S. attorneys said.
Daniel Manning, 43, faces up to 10 years in federal prison.

Manning was adjudicated guilty on July 26, 2013, in Kansas on multiple counts of indecent liberties with a child, according to court documents.
Prior to his sentencing, Manning fled the state and traveled to Jacksonville, where he established a residence, U.S. attorneys said.
Because Manning was a convicted felony sex offender and had fled from supervision, Kansas authorities issued a warrant for his arrest.
Law enforcement in Jacksonville, including the U.S. Marshals Service, discovered where Manning's Jacksonville home was and on April 30, 2014, entered the home to search for him, U.S. attorneys said.
During the search, law enforcement officials found several rifles in a glass-front gun case in Manning's bedroom, as well as a pistol inside the nightstand next to Manning's bed, according to U.S. attorneys. Manning had concealed himself in the attic of the home.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office SWAT team seized the firearms, including five rifles, two shotguns and a pistol. U.S. attorneys said hours later, Manning surrendered.
Manning later said that he had brought all of the guns with him when he fled from Kansas to avoid sentencing, according to U.S. attorneys.
Manning has been in custody since his arrest April 30, 2014, in Jacksonville. U.S. attorneys said a sentencing hearing has not yet been set.
