Shelby Farah, 20, shot and killed at Metro PCS

Suspect still on the loose

JACKSONVILLE, Fla – The store clerk in Saturday night's shooting at a Metro PCS on Main Street has been identified as 20-year-old Shelby Deanna Farah, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Police were called to a report of an armed robbery at the store on Main near 21st Street about 6:30 p.m. When they arrived, found Farah behind the counter with a gunshot wound.

Witnesses say that a man entered the store demanding money, wearing a bandana over his face.  Officers said multiple shots were fired, then the suspect left on foot. He is still on the loose.

Sunday night, police released images of the suspect recorded by a surveillance camera outside the store. They asked the public for help identifying the man.

Farah's Facebook page says she attended Florida State College at Jacksonville and works with Community in Schools.

"This is the Shelby that everybody knew right here, always smiling, always laughing, real jolly," said Darlene Farah, Shelby's mother, holding a photo of her daughter. "I want everyone to look at this face. Shelby supported a lot of things in the community and I think now it's time for the community to show support for Shelby and bring justice for Shelby, and come forward. If you know this man, please come forward."

Coworker of Shelby's, Toric Blocker, said, "She was very vibrant very full of life. You'd never once ever see her on a bad day. She was the person you would look to if you were having a bad day."

Rebin Ibrahim works across the street from the shooting scene.

"It's horrible having to lose someone because someone wants to rob you," said Ibrahim. "It's sad, it's really sad."

"Everybody at work is handling this really bad," said Blocker. "You see a person who is naturally good hearted, the kind of person who was ready to help you whenever you need it, and just to be gunned down -- its a tragedy."

Anyone who has any information about the identity or location of the suspect is asked to contact the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office at 904-630-0500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
