Sheriff: Man barricaded in home commits suicide

Man fired shots at wife during argument, sheriff says; she was not injured

BAKER COUNTY, Fla. – A man deputies said was armed and had barricaded himself in his home committed suicide, Baker County Sheriff Joey Dobson said.

The home is a couple miles north of Macclenny.

Dobson said the Special Response Team took up positions around the house, which is on State Road 121, two miles north of town.

Officials, said the man did not have hostages and tear gas was used on the home to try to force the man out. 

Dobson said SRT team members were able to enter the home and found the man dead inside.

He said the standoff started with a domestic disturbance, during which the man fired shots at his wife. She was not hit by the gunfire.
