Shootings erupt across Northwest Jacksonville

JSO investigating 4 shootings that occurred hours apart from each other

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating four shootings that happened in Northwest Jacksonville an hour and a half apart from each other Monday evening.

West 23rd Street Shooting

The first shooting happened on West 23rd Street around 6 p.m. Police said a man in his 30s was shot in the forearm in a drive-by.

He was treated at the scene, and couldn't tell police who shot him.

No suspect information was given.

Calvin Street Shooting

JSO then responded to Calvin Street just before 7:30 p.m. in reference to a person shot.

Police said a man was shot in the leg while he was riding his bicycle. The man told police a blue car was seen leaving the area.

He was taken to UF Health with non-life threatening-injuries.

Vernon Street Shooting

The next shooting happened on Vernon Street in the Grand Park area, also around 7:30 p.m. JSO said a man in his 20s was shot in the left thigh.

He was transported to UF health non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are canvassing the neighborhood to try to find witnesses.

Melson Avenue Shooting

The fourth shooting occurred on Melson Avenue near 3rd Street Circle around 7:30 p.m.

Officers said a man walking on Melson Avenue was shot in the hand. The man said he was shot by a person who was driving by in a white Cadillac.

That man was taken to UF Health with non-life threatening injuries.

The JSO Task force is searching for suspects and police are canvassing the area.
