Shootout in Beachwood subdivision

1 injured; unclear if shot or hit by glass

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating a series of gunshots Sunday morning in the Beachwood subdivision.

Police said a man and woman were standing on the street arguing when another car pulled up. Soon after, there was more arguing, then shots were fired.

"I head about eight to nine shots. Came out on my Lanai, and saw a red car with its doors open as well as a red Monte Carlo behind it. I went inside for a moment and when I came back out the Monte Carlo was gone," said one neighbor.

"At this point we don't know what the reason was for the encounter or what was going on. We have two detectives looking into it," said Sgt. Daniel Castilleja.

JSO said one person was injured but it's unknown if that person was grazed by a bullet or was cut by glass.

If anyone has information on this case you're asked to call Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
