JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

Police are searching for a gunman who fired a shot into the ground to scare an Wendy's employee after he entered the kitchen Saturday night and demanded money.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says a robber wearing a mask, gloves and carrying a backpack entered the restaurant at 8625 Baymeadows Road at 7:41 p.m. After walking into the kitchen and firing the shot, he forced a female employee into the office and forced her to open the safe. He gave her his backpack to fill with money.

The robber then left the store on foot. No one was injured.

Police responded and searched the area with the assistance of the JSO helicopter and K9 teams, but there was no sign of the robber. Detectives interviewed witnesses and collected security camera images (seen above), and crime scene technicians processed the scene.
