JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A St. Johns County Sheriff's deputy and another driver were hospitalized after a crash Monday morning at the intersection of San Jose Boulevard and Loretto Road.

About 7:30 a.m., Florida Highway Patrol troopers were sent to investigate the crash. FHP said a Mazda, driven by 24-year-old Dylan Gregory Whalen, was heading south in the center lane of San Jose Boulevard, and Deputy Scott Wright, 30, was in the left turn lane northbound on San Jose. Wright started to turn his patrol car left onto Loretto Road and was hit in the right front side by the Mazda.
