JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Another huge shopping day happened Saturday.  It's called Small Business Saturday.

The new annual tradition was originated by American Express in 2010.  It has become one of the busiest shopping days of the year.

According to the National Federation of Independent Business, last year consumers spend an estimated $5.5 billion at locally owned stores and restaurants on Small Business Saturday.
The day is designed to bolster small businesses instead of larger chain stores which do big business on Black Friday.
