Some vending machines will soon help you count calories
The new Affordable Care Act requires vending machines to display product calorie info
When you head to the vending machine for an afternoon snack in the new year, expect to see some changes.
Starting next year, about five million vending machines nationwide will be required to display calorie information.
It's a little-known requirement of the new health care law.
The new Food and Drug Administration regulations apply to more than 10-thousand vending machine companies nationwide that operate 20 or more machines.
Customers will see the calories next to the snacks they choose.
The upgrade, however, won't come cheap.
The F-D-A estimates it will cost $25.8 million every year after that.
