St. Augustine man convicted on trafficking charge

J.H. Hardy, 39, could serve up to 60 years in prison

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – J.H. Hardy, a 39-year-old St. Augustine man, was convicted Wednesday of selling hydrocodone pills in August 2012.

According to an assistant state attorney, Hardy was in possession of more than 14 grams , but less than 28 grams of the drug. The trafficking of that amount carries a minimum mandatory prison sentence of 15 years.

The assistant state attorney said prosecutors will seek to have Hardy classified as a habitual felony offender, which could double his possible prison sentence from 30 to 60 years.

Hardy's sentencing hearing will be set in the coming months.
