Domestic violence suspect hit by 2 cars, dies

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – A domestic violence suspect was killed Wednesday night when he was struck by two cars in St. Johns County, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.

The Sheriff's Office said it received a call about a man beating his girlfriend at a home on C H Arnold Road. Before deputies arrived they learned that a man was stabbed at a home in the 6600 block of State Road 16, and the same man was suspected in both incidents.

SJCSO spokesman Kevin Kelshaw said the suspect ran from second scene before deputies arrived. As he ran across S.R. 16 just before 10 p.m., the man was struck twice and died at the scene.

The Florida Highway Patrol, which is investigating the fatal crash, said, 21-year-old Candace Mcentyre was driving west on S.R. 16 just west of St. James Avenue when a man darted in front of her. She told troopers that she tried to avoid hitting him, but couldn't.

The FHP report said a second car driven by 70-year-old Roger Masa also struck the man in the road.

The name of the person hit has not been released, but the FHP said he was 19.

None of the motorists were injured. The names and conditions of the victims of the domestic violence calls were not released overnight.

Kelshaw, who said the man was not being pursued when he ran onto the road, expects more information to be released Thursday morning.

Both FHP and the Sheriff's Office investigations are ongoing.
