State attorney to extradite Georgia murder suspect

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The process to extradite murder suspect Daniel Nelson Robinson to Georgia began Monday when the State Attorney's Office dropped Duval County charges resulting from his chase and capture in Jacksonville.

Robinson, 21, is accused of killing William Davitte and injuring his wife, Jennifer Davitte, on Aug. 14 in the parking lot of Marvin United Methodist Church near Augusta, Georgia. Authorities said Robinson then drove to Jacksonville in Davitte's 2010 Gold Nissan Murano.

The next morning an FHP trooper spotted the stolen car driving south on Interstate 95 near Pecan Park Road and followed it exiting on Dunn Avenue. When the trooper attempted to stop the car, the driver did a U-Turn and re-entered I-95 southbound at a high rate of speed.

After about a three-mile pursuit, the car exited onto Edgewood Avenue and the trooper lost sight of it. Several Jacksonville Sheriff's Office patrol cars found the car abandoned at Lake Forest Boulevard and Wayne Street. The area was searched and officers found Robinson, who had blood on his clothing.

He was arrested and charged in Duval County with aggravated fleeing and eluding, possession of a stolen vehicle and other charges. He will likely be transferred to Georgia authorities on murder and attempted murder charges.

The Florida charges were dropped to expedite he process of returning Robinson to Columbia County, Georgia, to face the murder and carjacking charges.
