JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A stolen truck slammed into a Family Dollar store early Wednesday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

The truck hit the building to the right of the windows. The windows were already boarded up and it's unknown why at this time.

Investigators said this was a smash-and-grab attempt and that two people were inside the stolen truck.

Witnesses reported seeing the crooks ram the building four times before running off, according to JSO.

The burglars in the truck were not able to enter the store and fled from the scene. Police are looking for them.

Police hadn't been able to access surveillance video as of Wednesday morning to help them in their investigation.

Last Thursday, a similar incident occurred three miles away. A truck hit the Dollar General store on 103rd Street at Jammes Road.

The store's front windows were shattered, the wall was damaged and a water pipe was broken.

Police said that was a smash-and-grab burglary attempt, but there didn't appear to be any items missing from the store.

Witnesses said police recovered the pickup truck used in the attempted burglary.
