Store owner gets guitar back after story on News4Jax

Guitar was stolen by 2 men last week

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The owner of a local music store is reaching out Tuesday night to thank the anonymous caller who contacted Crime Stoppers and helped police track down the burglars who stole a guitar from his store last week.

Clark Kirkwood, the owner of Clarks Music Center, said the two men involved in the burglary have been caught and he now has his guitar back thanks to someone who saw his story on News4Jax and called Crime Stoppers.

"Officer Moore called me today to tell me that they have the second person. I was just jumping for joy inside and he said he was going to return my guitar to me today and that was just an awesome feeling," Kirkwood said.

The burglary happened Saturday, Oct. 24 at Clark's Music Center when a man in a black Nike shirt came into the store and ran out with the guitar as employees tried to chase him down.

Kirkwood said that within two minutes the man who took the guitar off the wall and then bolted for the door. He then jumped into the passenger seat of a dark Chrysler and both men managed to get away.

Kirkwood not only alerted police but also called News4Jax with hopes of tracking the two men down. Several days later those efforts were successful and the guitar was returned.

"I do feel violated by being stolen from because I'm a family owned and operated business and that puts food on our table. So I have to be very cautious with everything that I sell in the store and keep an eye on it. To get (the guitar) back was just such a great feeling and to know that they were apprehended, punishment will be served," Kirkwood said.
