Suspect sought in Palatka convenience store robbery

This suspect is being sought in connection with the an armed robbery at the BP Food Mart convenience store at 238 North Highway 17 in Palatka.

The Palatka Police Department is investigating an armed robbery at the BP Food Mart convenience store at 238 North Highway 17.

The clerk on duty told police he was inside the store when an armed, unidentified black man entered through the front door around 10:24 a.m. Thursday. The suspect pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded money, obtained cash from the clerk and fled through the front door, the clerk reported.

The suspect was described as 5-feet-8- to 5-feet-10-inches tall, medium build. He was wearing all dark clothing, a bandana over his face and a cap covering his head. He also had on white gloves. The suspect was armed with what appeared to be a semi-automatic handgun.

Officers from the Palatka Police Department, deputies from the Putnam County Sheriff's Office and officers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene and the area but could find no possible suspects.

A reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible.
