Suspected thief sought in Clay County

ORANGE PARK, Fla. – The Clay Count Sheriff's Office is seeking help identifying a suspected thief who burglarized a vehicle in July and then fraudulently used the victim's bank card.

On July 16, a victim reported that her unlocked vehicle was burglarized while it was parked at the Orange Park Mall. The thief took a portable DVD player, the victim's wallet and a small stuffed toy.

Later that month, the victim learned her debit/credit card was used at Walgreens on Blanding Boulevard. An investigation found that a man (pictured above) used her card to purchase two American Express gift cards ($100 each).

The man then attempted to do the same at Publix but the manager intervened and refused to complete the transaction without proper ID, police said.

Video shows the man exit the passenger door of what appears to be a dark blue Honda Odyssey (pictured above).

Anyone who can help identify the man is asked to contact the CCSO at 904-264-6512. Detective Daniel Tenbusch is the point of contact on the case.
