TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -

Police responding to a 911 call about an armed robbery in progress in Tallahassee Monday afternoon chased and shot two men on and near the Florida State University Campus, according to the Tallahassee Police Department.

One suspect was shot near the fine arts building on the northern edge of campus. The other was shot two blocks away.

Florida State senior Nicole Mishler said she was coming out of a nearby parking garage and saw a body lying in the street.

"I couldn't really see any blood from where I was; I just saw him laying there,” she said, “and I was like, 'Is it safe to go to class?' and the cop was like, 'Yes, it's fine.' They had the whole area secured.

“They were putting the tape up when I was going back to class."

A spokesman for the TPD said the officers responding to the call found the suspects' vehicle and attempted to stop the vehicle, and the two suspects fled.

“At least one officer discharged his firearm and there were two suspects injured as a result," TPD spokesman Scott Beck said.

Police said they don’t know if more than one officer opened fire, or if the suspects were shooting.

TPD said part of their investigation of the incident will be whether the use of deadly force was appropriate on a usually heavily populated section of campus.
