Taste of Golf event helps youth golf program

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jarod Fasig, 15, joined First Tee of North Florida's program five years ago.

"It's been so heartwarming to see the effect this program has had on my sons," his mother, Jennifer, said.

Her 12-year-old also participates.

"They have become more confident, more patient and even more community- minded," Fasig added.

"We meet once a week for nine weeks," explained Boots Farley, executive director of The First Tee of North Florida. The program started 15 years ago and is focused on helping to shape young golfers.

This Wednesday, the program's biggest annual fundraiser will take place at the TPC Sawgrass Clubhouse.  It's called Taste of Golf and involves a competition among the areas best chefs.  Attendees can enjoy delicious food and also bid on exclusive tournament experiences in the silent auction.  Tickets are $125 and are also valid for Sunday entrance to the Web.com Tour Championship.
